About the name

Why "GumsMaxxing"?

The "-maxxing" suffix comes from internet culture — most notably "looksmaxxing," a movement we think is harmful. Looksmaxxing pushes young people toward cosmetic extremes, unregulated supplements, and body dysmorphia in the name of appearance.

GumsMaxxing is a deliberate reclaim of that language. We are using a word people already search for to redirect attention to something that actually matters for healthspan: the health of the periodontal tissues, the oral microbiome, and their measurable connections to cardiovascular, metabolic, and cognitive disease.

It is tongue-in-cheek by design. It is also the consumer-facing brand only. Every clinical document, physician communication, and referral material uses Bedrock Periodontal Longevity, because our physician partners are not being marketed to — they are being partnered with.

If the name gets a young patient to think about their gums instead of jawline mewing and testosterone gummies, it has done its job.
